dance and general good time so Im told From what Ive seen at the club over the last six months or so the 196162 season goes down in the books as as good as any in the past No major provin cial trophies were taken by locals but lot of import ant honspiels had Barrie at the top of the prize list More persons than ever curled locally with the women even taking to morning shots during at least one schedule Its hinted that Wednesday usually held clear for bonspiels or practices may he added to schedule time next year Looking back here are just some of the things that happened at the club and concerning local curl ers Marion Smith long considered one of the better female curlers finally won schedule trophy In fact she skipped two rinks to trophies four consisting of Grace Ough Audrey Webb Betty Clyne and Mary Hamilton won district Diamond honors failing in the big day in Toronto Vern Adams skipped rink to the Imperial Oil Trophy in the agesold bonspiel at Midland His rink consisted of Fred Norris George Dangerfield and Wilmer Rowell George Kennedy with Ralph Reive Jack Webb and Bill Hewick took the second event trophy in Bar ries biggest spiel the Wook Long one which features many of the provinces better rinks Walter Craig with cigar naturally Emerson Webb Howard Chantler and Charlie Hurtibese won the Hudson Trophy in another big spiel at Midland The Campbell boys Ross Paul and Doug along With Merv Wice won the local Junior Tankard honors They failed in the finals at Toronto Bob Green along with John Cowan and Jack Lynn scored an eightender in one of the final nights schedule contests It was the first eightender at the club this year and for few seasons Canadian General Electric held its annual spiel here for the first time Rinks came from Quebec as well as Ontario Gord Needham with Fred Pearson Ross Simpson and John Rodgers won the Colts division trophy at the recent Apple Blossom even in Dixie Molsons through the courtesy of Earle Smith held oneday mixed here with rinks invited from the area It cost the players nothing but time And of course one cant forget the breakins The club was hit by thiefs couple of times As per usual the clubs
