ROSEMARY CAD CENTRAL GIRLS Why Large Purses By ELIZABETH TRAINOR Central Collegiate Another problem other than that at zipper binders seems to be bothering some of our staff members at Central not to mention some students it concerns the females who tote monstrously large purses around from class to class with them The teachers say that it is prevalent among the grade nine girls and have repeatedly asked for reason for it These purses are frequently targotten in various classes thereby causing its owner to get excused from her class to interrupt another class just to retrieve an undersized suitcase that contains such valuables as makeup lunch hockey card collection key chain with innumerable unidentified articles on it pen that only writes underwater and plast ic wallet with three cents in it Some girls ridicule this idea at purse carrying while still others cant be without them grade nlne girl Rosemary Code carries her purse around to her classes to keep her books intact Among other things she has carried tomato soup in can of course and oranges in her purse She car ries it because its handy to have everything with her such as her lunch makeup and pencil case Vickie Kelly also from grade STEVE CHESINE nine says the bigger the bet ter and the more you can stuff in it Large purses can be easily used as overnight bags and eliminate the need to carry another suitcase if spare pair oi shoes is required at some time during the day they are usually con cealed in purse Of course purses do come in handy ii you happen to have any money to put in them The boys at Central appear not to be at all interested in purses Grant Fair of grade eleven who finds time to beat out some rhythm in the hand ask ed question in reply to question He says Why not discuss life sex and school pressures instead of babbling about purses Grant says know why they carry purses but the rea sons orent valid or rational They have to carry thesahea Vy bags because they cant afford is Charles others Some of the efforts were in very serious vein while others were quite humorous Here in this weeks column are two at the poems from grade nine Don Ramsey chose for his topic Normal Boy NORMAL BOY Why cant you be like other boys happy child content with toys Like trucks and trains that ride and race On magic roads to some tor place 0r barefoot by country brook To linger with baited book
