SPORTS TYPE By STEVE JDNESCU Sports Editor PLENTY OF PLUCK To say wasnt surprised at the attendance at Saturdays Peewee hockey game at Barrie Arena would bea big bold lie almost flipped when saw about 200 people in the place what didnt surprise me was the calibre and spirit of the action on the ice was especially thrilled by the activity of one of the smallest competitors Cy Atkinson is the little fellows name its too had more older hockcyists couldnt have been on hand to see him for one shuddered everytime Cy was carried into the boards by an opposition player twtca his size Bramptons kids big fast and effective werent averse to roughing it It seemed that little Cy was the prime target That might just be because Cy always seemed to be on the ice The little fellow was knocked off his feet at least dozen times He never hesitated to regain his bal ance and take chase of the puck He then astounded some of the spectators including gigantic Ab Bowen by going after his big torment ors Cy didnt fare too well in the bumping exchanges but nevertheless he didnt lose for lack of trying Cys pluck wasnt so surprising after was told about the rest of his athletic family The brother Just older than him Steve plays hockey for the bantams Hes also member of the young soccer team that wows local and national oposition Steve is pitch er in the Legion Minor Baseball Leagues too yet older brother Donnie plays midget and juvenile hockey Donnie is also the spearhead of Ron Pickards soccer squad Oldest brother Roy plays Juvenile hockey He turned down chance to play Junior for St Cath arines TeePees He favored his Grade 13 studies Roy is one of the soccer team originals and is star track man and footballer for Barrie North Collegiate Then one cant forget dad Don Sr is the chair man of Legion Minor Hockey for the year just ended Cy has certainly livedup to the examples set by the older members of the Atkinson clan And its my own guess having seen Roy Don and Steve at the same age that Cy is little better at this age Peewee hockey for that matter looked little better this year than last We could be enjoying boom times JUST NOTES Following is list of donors and rize winners from
