SPORTS TYPE By STEVE JONESCU Sports Editor VCURLIM curdROVERSY Almost everyone whos gone to Kitchener to Iwatch part or all of the Canadian CurlingChamp onships has different opinion of how things are going One party insists the curling is not so hot lot 30f shots are missed This is the party that would add that too many stones are cluttering the house Evtd ence of this was shown in the many pictures sent out from the competition Another party insists the curling is the greatest They just dont leave anything alive in or in front of the house these parties claim From what read and hear the men who curl ed in the 1962 edition of the championships must have returned to the human race Greatest evidence of same is in the team standing You know there was the clean sweep It means that more rinks are curling better or iniore are curling not sohot Competition was much keener Fewer big ends were blown feel the differences in opinion are simple Not everyone watched the same games Not everyone watched the same angles Not everyone plays the game the same way And most important Not every one saw the games on the same day regardless of angle etc All were unanimous in their gripes It was express ed that the point of imported westerners representing fan eastern province was just no good In that way all 10 provinces are not truly represented Saskatchewan for example could be represented by two provinces ie Saskatchewan and Ontario In the same light imported curlers are considered professionals Curling is supposed to be strictly am ateur game That is why the value of prizes at bon Spiels was cut few years ago In Ontario at least this shows how vague my knowledge of the order is one cannot win an automo bile Out west autos used to be the order of the day as normal
