By SFEVE JONESCIJ Sports Editor RISE AND FALL 0F FALCONS Bay City Falcons Georgian Bay Intermediate Hockey League leaders for more than half of the schedule can be thankful today for Orillia Lakeviews being in the league The locals have done next to nothing asfar as gathering points is concerned during January The New Years Day game against Drillia was nothing They picked up belated win couple of weeks ago on protest Other than that Falcons have been easy pickings for Midland Flyers Meaford Chevies and Coiling wood Shipbuilders The big mystery is Whats wrong and why For the past couple of games Falcons have had as close to full lineup as theyll ever have They cant come close to winning Some of the players like Bob Garner Chuck Ed ward Al Smith Gerry McBride and Lew Stoddart are well up among the leagues scoring leaders The club still flounders My feeling for the clubs demise is that all of the fellows arent pulling together would suggest take it or leave it that the fellows get together and deter mine just who wants to play hockey 100 per cent and who wants to go at half mast Something has got to be done and done in hurry Falcons to my mind have the outstanding goal tender in the league in Don Rich Collingwood and Meaford have big names in Harry Lumley and Red Henry Rich has still been the most consistent All too often big names overshadow big stops Who can dispute Garners claim as outstanding forward in the league There are others on this club like Smith who are as good as any Falcons defence should be sound with Ray GariepY Dave Sandersori Jim Cairns not used near enough Don Graves and Ken Robertson This is quite an array waste think so firmly believe that Falcons problem is mental This reflects on the physical Thats why the club is going at an equaltosnails pace In the meantime the other clubs with the except ion of the even more desperate Lakeviews are skip ping along merrily Where they once Iooked to Bar rie for keen opposition they now look for two points Things could change for the better Only the players can decide how and when it should be done May suggest the time NOW JUST NOTES Midhurst Boy Scouts and Third Barrie will play at the West End Plaza Saturday This hockey game was postponed by horrible weather con ditions last weekend Forgot to mention yesterday that the entertain ment at the Medical Bonspiel was supplied by the Whistlers otherwise known as Dr Alf Crossland Dr Ross Turnbull and Dr John Hicks They were terrific despite the fact the act was stolen Barrie Juvenile OMHA team has practice called for this evening
