today the acqui sition of fecalemit Canada Li mitcd firm which has been operating in Metro Toronto for the past 13 years imperialA Eastman manufactures fluid transmission components for wide market in the automotive industrial refrigeration and re lated fields The newly purchased comp any will move to Barrie where it will operate as the Tecalemit Division of imperialEastman Mr McNellis in making the announcement said that the move will result in 18 more em ployees for the firm Ten of these employees all holding key positions in the Metro oper ation of Tecalemit will move from Toronto to Barrie Eight other positions will be filled locally If Waite of Tecalemit will continue as director of the new division It is expected that the pliysi cal inove of the division will take place lo against 19yearold Lydia Crawford sometime today Gordon clurk defence counsel for the girl accused of murdering her husband last September 25 ended the defence testimony yesterday afternoon He had called Iotal of 14 witnesses Previous testimony indicated that the victim 23yearold Jock Crawford had died from stab wound in the dim His wife has admitted wielding the knife but said that she only intended to scare her husband so that he would stop hitting her CALLS EVENTS Under questioning by her lawyer Mrs Crawford related events of the day leading up to the death of her husband She told the court that the day hnd started normally enough She said that she her husband nnd children and Pet riCk Doris had had breakfast did the dishes and decided to wash out blouse she added The witness said that Doris and her husband were in the collar for couple of hours and that Doris went out and bought six pack of beer She said they gave her bottle and she took sip out of it My husbandifinished it later she said Mrs Crawford said that she asked her husband to go and get somethlnB for supper He agreed to go kissed me good bye and said hed be right back she said The young woman told the court that after her hasband and Doris left the house she laid down on the bed and wont to sleep She said she awoken ed about five minutes before pm HEARD NOISE Mrs Crawford said that the men had not returned and she figured they were not coming back She said she mode sandwich for herself She heard noise outside then her husband came in the door He handed her bag of groceries and handed them back examination by Crown Attorney William Thomplt son Mrs Crawford said that the follows that visited their home didnt do very much work on the cars She admit ted that both she and her hus band were jealous and that Jock had quick tcmpcr but was soon over it She said that his drinking habits got worse after he sus tained the injury In his hand Mrs Crawford said that her husband was fairly good Mrs Dorothy Scott and three of her sons Glen Gary and Douglas and Cannon Vrlghtmnn Mr Markwick told the court that on the evening of Septem ber 25 hehad seen Mr Craw ford arrive at his home short ly after 7pm He said that about is minutes later heard car roaring away He add ed that soon after Mrs Craw ford had come to his door and had used his telephone to make call The witness told the court that he had asked llirs Craw ford it anyone had been hurt and she had replied yes He said he questioned further and asked if the injury was bad Mrs Crawford told him real bad The other witnesses testified to commotion around the Crawford home particularly on weekends They specifically mentioned cars roaring up and down the street at late hours in the morning RECEIVED SLAP In addition the had hold of one arm the witness said After conferring with both thl Crown and defence counsel Mr Justice Morand decided against allowing addresses to the jury He adjourned court until 10 am this morning and at that time the jury will be addressed first by the defence then the Crown Following this Mr Justice Morand will charge the jury with an explanation of the law as it relates to the case
