in the noneapitnl murder trial of Mrs Crawford Edward Charles Leonard Lydia Crawfords father told of visit the Crawfords had made to his Toronto home on Sept He said that Crawford had got out of the car which had driven up He told me my daughter was crazy that she was lazy and lies in bad all day Ill kill her before the week is out Jack said Karen Leonard 10yearold sister of Lydia said that the group had arrived at the Tor onto house between 130 and 200 pm in Patrick Doriss car answered the door and Jack Crawford asked me if Lydia could stay the weekend He said she was crazy and he didnt want her up there UNLOAD CLOTHING Miss Lennard said that Pat rick Doris Crawford and George Davis had begun to unload clothing from the car and dump it on the porch She said that Dori had laundry 16 which had been written in re assuring terms but which had not calmed her fears Mrs Leonard said that she and her husband had then driv en to Barrie to visit at the Crawford home on Tiffin Street went into the house she said and there were about 10 fellows in the kitchen who MRS JANET KING LAY Mrs Janet King Lay Passes Former PMs Sister Confident prominent Barrie citizen has passed away with the death of Mrs Janet Lindsay King Lay last surviving sister and confidant of the late Prime Min ister Mackenzie King Mrs Lay who was 85 died at loniswood Private Hospital here yesterday following lengthy illness She had been in hospi tal since last May Mr Lay died in 1945 He was manager of the Canadian Bank of Commerce branch here from 1919 until his retirement in 1930 He then established Boulderfel Greenhouse which he operated successfully for several years In earlier years Mrs Lay was very close to King before and during his ong parliamen tary career For many years she served as Mr Ki inffiCial hostess for vorious functions when the prime minister enter before coming tnined royalty and government leaders from other countries For most of her life Mrs Lay was active in many of Barries social and community activities retiring from this work about 10 years ago She was mem ber of Collier Street United Church Born in Berlin Ontario later Kitchener she was married in Toronto in
