By STEVE JONESCU Sports Editor REPORT OF REPORTS All was not rosy yEt all not gloomy as committee heads made their reports at Mondays Barrie District Anglers and Hunters Conservation Club meeting On the bright side and to the clubs credit was that 155 passed the 1061 Hunter Safety Course led by Jim Harris This was drop of 35 from the previous year but still impressive Saveral hundred persons have gone through the course As yet none has been known to have been involved in hunting accl dent Big game reports were both encouraging and discouraging gtirhe moose kill as reported by com mittee chairman Zeke Firman was good He said it was encouragelng to note that hunters went into remote areas well off the roads to hunt He gave reports on the deer kill migratory birds upland game and wetland survey What irked Fir man was that hunters including members of this club did not fully cooperate in the returning of bands from birds or forms regarding deer CONSERVATION OFFICER HAROLD VAN WICK SWEARSIN PRESIDENT MORLEY HOFFMAN LEFT AND DIRECTOR ZEKE FIRMAN CENTRE These are Just few arthe items that went by the boards at the first meeting of 1062 It is further evidence of the good works done by the club for Your gcod Albert Parrish told the gathering that several persons had passed the water safety coourse Of ficial announcement would be made when certif icates arrived The members also heard of the formation of Junior Conservation Club The present members dont expect tobe around forever the protection or our natural resources must go on The interested Juniors who have volunteered to work with any and all committees of the senior group must do the job CLUB NOTES The club did not make application for any awards to the Federation The president felt that enough work was in the offing for this year to make application in future Maybe the club didnt do quite enough to win anything in 1981 It might have done more than enough in 1960 Continuing its policy of operating independently the membership voted to raise its year dues These moneys merely cover the cost of publishing monthly bulletins and mailing correspondence Firman would like hunters to give him one front leg from the elbow to the paw of any snow shoerabbits shot He will prepare these for study by the Department of Lands and Forests The work of conservation never ceases The club never turns down job Its next project not nec essarily 1n the field is to run the rishderby at Barries Winter Carnival which is less their month away JUST NOTES Barrie rink of George Danger field skip Ken Walls
