Reinstated Firing Too Severe Commission ORILLIA CP The Orillia Police Commission early today reinstated Sgt Murray Robin son after five hour closed hearing The commission ruled the 36 yearold sergeant was guilty of two breaches of the police act but that dismissal imposed by Chief McIntyre was too severe Sgt Robinson was suspended July 12 and later dismissed after bearing on charges of using abusive language to fei low policemen and destroying an officialrpolice order The commission substituted fine of $100 month for three months on the first charge and gave him severe reprimand on the second charge Mayor George McLean member of the police commis sion said petitions signed by 1000 persons demanding Sgt RobinSons reinstatement were filed with the commission David Humphrey counsel for the sergeant said the commis sioners hope the officer will con tinue the good police work for which he was noted in the past We conï¬ned the hearing to the issue of the allegedcliarges against Sgt Robinson Mr Humphrey said But thefacts discovered by myself in prepar ing the case led inc to hope that complete investigation of the department will be carried out soon Earlier this year friends of
