rm lARRlE EXAMINER TUESDAY JULY SPORTS TYPE By STEVE JONESCU Sports Editor PHONEY BLOWUP It could be that all of this junk we rendand hear about the hatred Europeans have for Canadian hoe key players is overplayed but hEIB not necessarily overseas After each tour or tournament in which Canada L3 represented main stories concern the fans displea sure with the Canucks Theyre too rough theyre scoundrels etc Yet every year for the last five or six we recalve report from the Canadian Amateur Hockey Associ ation that Canadian players are wanted in Europe These roughians are but as coaches not only wanted lust as players Europeans want to learn the game the Canadian way Does this sound like were hated Too many newsmen look for the ugly side of every story There are bound to be complaints about everything men the sunshine is hell to some folk Switzerland and Italy are the countries pruently looking for Canadians to act as coaches This must mean that regardless of how we play the game they must feel it the right way Too often controversyis the only thing that some reporters can see We admitthat controversy in sport is the biggest attraction However once the event is over so should the controversy be over Besides that grumblings of few fans are too often blown out of proportion The fellow who writes lot of this Junk has the edge on us Hes there Were not We depend on him to give us responsible reporting If two hundred fans dont like the Canadians it doesnt seem proper to say the whole country is ready to declare war We remind all such badslders not to overlook reports such as this that Canadians are wanted in Europe That should end any stories of animosity Wevs yet to hear of Canadian team sent any where to act as ambassadors weve always believed the purpose was to win to beat the beloopers out of the opposition We do it at home We shouldnt be any different anywhere else JUST NOTES Gentleman Joe DempseyI wholl fight Victor the wrestling hear at Barrie Arena tonight
