local Canadian Institute for the Blind held at Community House Included were sightloss persons their escorts and members of the Advisory Board of the CNIE The gathering was convened by Mr and Mrs Don Magec of Barrie and president William Clark of the Advisory Boa rd who welcomed the go ests Christmas greetings were ex tended by Field Secretary Murdock of the CNIB Following turkey Don Magee acted as MC and several lucky prizes were drawn and given to the blind Winner of the door prize was Master Jason Madscn The prize for the oldest lady present went to Mrs JStewart and for the oldest gentleman to Charles Striker Second youngest person was Master Keven Council and for those with the closest birthday Jason Madscn and Mrs Stewart singsong as led by Gor don Itlntleon of Tottenham ac companied by Mr Bell at the piano The guests were then entertained by several mus ical numbers from the Crab sisters with their accordions Mr and Mrs George Mulhol and of Straud gave several unusual end entertaining music al numbers with piano banjo and mouth organ Don Magce and Arthur Vorrali followed with mouth organ duet ac companied by Mr and Mrs Mulhoiland During Ithe evening favors were given to all the sightl ss persons present very jovial and lively Santa Claus arrived and presented each with gift candies and apples Owen St John expressed thanks for the group to Mr and Mrs Magee for wonder ful party and also to everyone who had helped to made the party success OBITUARIES RANDAL AIeCARTHY Randal Kerr McCarthy 73 of Oriole Gardens Toronto who retired from the Canadian Bank of Commerce in 1946 after 41 years otservicc died Friday Dec at Sunnybrook Hospital Born and educated in Barrie Mr McCarthy began his bank ing career in Collingwond in 1905 He went overseas with the 72nd Regiment during the First World War and was wounded at Vimy Ridge ItIr McCarthy was an assist ant bank manager at Halifax and became an inspector at the banks head office on King Street West Toronto in 1929 He had been supervisor of per sonnel from 1934 until his relt tirement He was former member at the Toronto Golf Club and Granite Club and member of Christ Church Deer Park His wife died in 1950 He leaves daughter Mary Eliza beth Mollie McCarthy sis ter Vera Mrs William Thompson of Barrie and brother Ivan McCarthy of Moo trea Servicb for Mr McCarthy was held on Monday morning Dec at the Miles Funeral Chapel St Clair Avenue West followed by interment at St Thomas Cemetery Shanty Bay HERBERT NICHOL farmer in West Gwillim hnry for 32 years Herbert Ni chol passed away in Royal Vic toria Hospital Barrie as the result of cerebral hemorrhage Mr Nichol had been in failing health during the past two years but death came sudden Iy Mr Nichol was born at Bee ton and spent his younger years
