different branches Alsoin this building was wmockup filter centre which had been set up by the RCAF Ground Observer Corps Barrie Flying Officer Shepherd command ing officer of the Corps in this area explained to visitors just what the observers did and of their importance in the air de fence network During the after noon the filter centre exhibit was manned by Air Cadets of 102 Barrie Squadron Aircraft Display Out on the tarmac was static aircraft display showing the 88 hrs jetthe CFOO Canuck all vwesther iet lighter the Harvard trainer the Lancaster bomber the Dakota transport the Expeditor and probably the most famous fighter aircraft ofrWorld War Two Ground Defence School had dis the Spitï¬re In one of the hangars the play of small arms illustrating the wide range of weapons with which the personnel oithis very important section of the RCAF are proficient Another interesting display of explosives missiles and pyrotech nics was set up by 13x Depot unit of Air Materiel Command Demonstrations were also given in how these various items were handled Also available for inspection were the followingbuildings the canteen the music appreciation building the hobby shop the sta tion theatre where films were shown continuously all afternoon the Roman Catholic and Protest ant chapelsgthe airmens mess the airmens quarters and the drill hall Air Show The air show got underway with display of aerobatics by Flying Officer Robertson from Trenton in Harvard train er Beginning with loops he went on to demonstrate various rolls stalliturns and the Cuban roll After this came Dakotatransf port from yllrentbn to give demonstration of paradrop With live personnel including Nursing Sister Kelly of Summerside This part of the air show was put on to demonstrate how search
