Georgian Bay hilttttty Donald William Campbell Railroader 40 years Dies In Toronto Age 83 An active railroader for over 40 years Donald William Camp bell 83 died in Toronto on June 1954 On retirement from the CNR for the past 18 years Mr Campbell had been master mechanic with headquarters at Winnipeg Since 1936 he had been living in Barrie and Toronto Born in Barrie Mr Campbell started his railway career in East ern Canada He was locomotive engineer with the Canada Atlantic Railway when the line was built from Ottawa to Depot Harbour to handle grain shipped from the lakehead by boat Mason Mr Campbell wusa charter member and Past Master of Emsdale Lodge and received his 50year medal several years ago He was also one of the oldcst members of Rameses Shrine having become Shriner in 1906 Surviving are his widow Maud Thomson formerly of Parry Sound and four daughters Mrs Jamieson Crawford Helen Van couver Mrs Grant Adams Irener Port Credit lsabcl and Jean of Toronto Walter McMillan Die Suddenly of Thrombosis At His Home North Bay Korean veteran Walter Rich ard McMillan who had spent 10 years at Camp Borden passed away on the evening of Saturday May 22 in North Bay as result of sudden severe coronary thrombosis following on illnc of six weeks at his home 409 on quin Avenue He was 35 years old born at Creighton Mines and had gonc from Borden to Korea where he spent one year and then returned to Toronto where he had lived for two years prior to posting at North Bay where he was an instructor with the IA Cadre Department of National Defence Walter McMillan was the son of Mrs Ringer and the late Walter McMillan and his marriage to the former Miss Betty Bowman was solemnized on Dec 30 1944 at the home of her parents in Stroud Besides his widow surviving are one son Walter Robert eight years old his mother Mrs Ringer of Burlington grandmother Mrs Helen Newman New Westminster BC four sisters Mrs Beau prc Mimico Mrs Pelletier Sarnia Mrs Bishop and Miss Hazel Ringer Burlingtonand two brothers Albert Ringer Sault Ste Marie and Howard Ringer Sud bury The military funeral was held from the Martyn Funeral Chapel witlt Lieut BobtKift North Bay and Capt Bert Casseiman Toronto in charge The service was con ducted by Rev Large of the Anglican Church and interment was made in Park Lawn Cemetery Stidbury The following were pall bearers Sgit Frank PhloeSgt Bill Izon Sgt age of 10 he temporarily assumed duties of hb sister His father and grandfather were also both organ ists After extensive training Mr Franklin served as organist at Wes ley Hall in England and directed large festivaLs annually for up to 2000 voices He came to Cornwall Ontario in 1911 as organist of the Methodist Church Mrs Franklin who is few years olderthan her husband was mezzo soprano vocalist and accom plished pianist and painterrln oils and water colors She won me dal in an oil painting competition in England She is the former Rosetta Burdett Turner of Newark onTrcnt England In Cornwall she was soloist tn Franklin the Methodist Church and served as musical director in the model school She and her husband per formed in public on numerous oc casions Mr Franklin followed his pro fession rs organist in Parry Sound and Orillia before coming to Cold water about 30 years ago He has enjoyed figure skating horseback riding football reading and gardening as hobbies Mrs Franklin still likes to paint and collects flowers beads and pipes Both are in good health They have three daughters Mrs Harrison Schcll Dolcel of Rich mond Hill Mrs Billinghurst Frieda of Toronto and Mrs Walter Lovcring Veral of Cold watcr five sons Tony Franklin of New Westminster BC Jack and Bob Toronto George of Lakeview and Cliff of Fort Wayne Indiana four grandsons and three grand daughters The Toronto with interment in Craighurst Cemetery Wilbent Edwin Richardson was the elder son of the late Harry Richardson and Mary Jane Miller and was born near Craiglhurst on March 19 1891 His early life was spent within radius of that vil lage Since his marriage in 1924 to Hilda May Hodgson he had made his home in Toronto and Guelph During those years he was CNR constable until illness forced him to
