for the most people possible For the beneï¬t of man people who do not bother to join oon aervstion groups or wonder where our natural resources come from or how they are controlled for the benclit of the largest number of people possible we will repeat thmhers of the Conservation Clubs in the Lake Simcoe area have met to discuss problems and suggested solutions for ice fishing on Lake Simcoe with the idea of pointing out such prob lems tn the Department of Lands and Forests with some ohserva tions from residents of the area involved which might help the Department in assessing the importance of such problems and irriving at measures which might help to solve such problems Many people do not know that the Department conducts surveys enlisting the help of the sportsmen of that particular area in order to determine the population of wildlife how many are hunted or fished so they can determine the hunting or fishing pressure varieties of species which do best in the area and many other such facts too numerous to mention Frnm such data much research and often at the request of majorly of sportsmen or sportsmens groups in an area game and fishery laws have their beginning The Barrie Conservation Club hold claim to the limiting of Lske Trout per day per ï¬sherman as coming from one of their meetings Anything which was mentioned in my column last Friday were suggested ideas which may or may not he meritorious and ch may or may not be considered as being an important factor by the Department if and when they consider any measures for ice fishing in the Lake Simcoc area FISHNG
