on clearl evening the view of Barrie quite equal to the name Howi ever the approach from the highl ways could be considerably Imi proved with very small expense The Parks Board would be well advised to buy up some of the un used properliis lit the entrances and make them into places of beauty oming from the south on Nunil DC 11 which highway brings thous ands of cars annually there used to be sign with the beauty sloi gait at the top It was locatcdi in wilderness of wild growth and did little to credit the municipalg ity as beauty spot These places would make ideal rest spots for the tired In1 1877 the late Little MP or South Simcoe took petition to the Postmaster General in Ottawa asking that the post office at the 8th Line of Innisfil knownast Innisfil PO be transferred to the1 101h Lille then known as the Vil lage of Victoria This was grant ed but as there were other of fices by the name of Victoria Mr Little asked that the place be call ed Stroud in honor of his native town in England John Cliantlcr was appointed postmaster He was succeeded by his son Charles who was latersucceeded in 1933 by his graddaughtei MrsF Banting sothat the post office has been in the family since 1877 Who is Responsible The skidi marks are still on the road below Churchill where the driver of car endeavOied to prevent himself and passenger from being crush ed undera truck which had stop ped suddenly in front of him be cause of mattress which had fallen from car which had not stopped Most of us have driven behind car withvnyluuhqusellold ma terials flapping and projecting from outside If there is any regulat on regarding this it is not very riotist enforced Another requirement that the highways de partmcnt could make would be that commercial vehicles have bumper front and rear which could correspond in height with those on passenger vehicles This would help to prevent car from going under the truck and having the front of his car driven back in to his face Then also if the shoulders were widened out so that car might take to these in emer gency so as to prevent collision thousands of dollars in claims could be averted These shoulders could be paved over hills and slow trucks required to pull over Barrie Traffic Problem It is about time that delegation from Barrie went to the Queens Park powers and got some definite as at once to relieve the highway conditions here so that another year would not see continuance of the deplorable weekend traffic jams that have been regular oc currences this year This is not fic seems to snarl it up even more Then often the vehicles that are diverted are those occupants who would under ordinary circum stances have been customers in town The highway outlet around the town is the only Solution Then and have noicomplaint if
