as farming As way of life it demands skill ability and char acter to high degree Anyone can make living of sorts in the city But to be really successful farmer man needs wide variety of abilities and qualities Coupled with good health common sense and genuine love of the land he must be something of soil technician crop expert gardener orchardist blacksmith electrician carpenter butcher veterinarian mechanic lumberman weathermanand bus iness man He needs common sense to judge what to grow and to determine the best times for plowing and seeding and to solve the enor mous number of minor and major difficulties that arise on farm In addition he requires an acute market WAcnser torjudgeithe bestitime for selliiigior withholding crops or animals There is little use in disposing ratepayers of Barrie to do is to guarantee these debentures They believe from their estimates and poten tial contracts with hockey clubs and major attractions that they can gain enough rev enue to cover the debentures so that thc ratepayers wont have to pay any of the cost of the alterations The ratepayers of Barrie are asked to have faith in the future of the Town and District and back the were turned over to tenants at an official ceremony last Wednesday the attendance was not large The ceremony had been pushed ahead week and there was no chanceto advertise it in this paper The at= fendance was only fair and consisted mostly of ladies and children from the immediate neighbor hood and those who had been speciallylasked to be present An opportunity was given to two of the new houses We thought it rather pity that more Fergus people could not see into these houses After all this is one of the big projects of the year in Fergus The new subdivisioniwill make history Besides the residents of Fergus have large financial stake in the project Finally everybody likes to look into new house We asked Mr Wallis of Central Mortgage and Housing Corporation if it would be possible to have one or two houses open at later date after the paper came out last week We explained thatiwe thought other people should have chance to see inside He agreed and made arrangements for the one house to be open Sunday The attendance on Sunday showed that his thoughtfulness was appre ciated look through thinks and believes and wants and dreams It is frequently too prom inently obvious that
