By a recent amendment to the Highway Traffic Act, on May 24th the speed limit is raised to 30 miles per hour in cities, towns and village and 50 miles in the open country. Some believe this will re- lieve congestion on our hi'g'hwa_\'s. but it wil increase responsibility. The mental and physical reaction 01. drivers will have to be stepped up if accidents are to be avoided. The higher the speed the greater the impact when you hit something. A car favllinig from a ten.-storey build- ing 120 feet high inflicts the same damage as a car travelling 60 miles per hour, but better not try to testl it out. Two simple rules if ob-` served will g-reatly cut down highway accidents. The rst is courtesy and the second is to start a little earlier` so you will not take chances on thei highway.
