MEMBERSHIP CAMPAIGN LOCALS The Northern Advance Friday Last was observed as mwsic day by the Kiwanis Club, and an in- teresting musical program, under the direction of Kiwanian Ed. Hardy, was given. Mr. A. R. Girdwood gave a shout talk on the B.C.I. band. Several ladies were present at the luncheon, which was enjoyed by all. 1-`-A-u u- u u-.1 MUSICAL PROGRAMME , ' AT KIWANIS LUNCHEON Mr. Gindwood in speaking of the band said that though he was not a musical man himself, yet he had been anxious tlwrt the boys and girls should have a chance to `take up music. Some years ago a violin class had been started at the Col- legiate and met with success. Then Mr. Sylvester breached the question of stantingr a band, and this met with general approval. Some inwstrumenits were picked up around town, some second-hand ones were purchased, and some of the students purcalmsed their own instruments. There are now over forty instruments, but 125 could be.used if they had them. The b-oys and girls are anxious to get in the band, and the time spent does not interfere with their studies. Mr. Girdwood said he found that the boys in the band learn to work to- gether better and help eaclh other. We all enjoy hearing` the band and if the town is to have a band the only way is to have a class of 25 or 30 every year coming` on. In this way there would always be material available for a,good band. The musical program consisted of: Piano Duert'-Miss Hnildreth Lecnnox and Edmund Hardy.
