Cer- tainly, with the gradual closing down of [the_7gam_e inrthe [United States, the chances for high-class sport in! the Dominion are greatly increased. The cry is .On to Canada, and the opening of the season at the.Wood- bine meeting` will likelysee a major- ity of the leading American stables. ready to compete `for the purses. Later on, these same horses willirun at Hamilton, `Montreal, Fort Erie and `Windsor, so that Canada is de-` stined to have the highest quality of racing she ever had. Wiiile owners like R. L. Thomas, P. T. Quinn, Bar- ney Schrieber, William Gerst and many others have raced a few horses at Fort Erie in years gone by, they never sent all of their star perform- ers. This summer, however, exten- sive strings will be campaigned throughout the circuit, and turf fol- lowers may expect to witness the sport of their lives.
