We left Thornton on Tuesday morning at 8 o'clock and arrived at Port Huron about 3_ p.n`1.' When we ccmpared our watches with the time there we found that they were one hour fast, and all at once we remem- bered that it was here that central time began. We remained in Port Huron till 9.15 p.m.`and then left -for Chicago, which we reached about the same time next morning. We` stayed there till 6.30 p.m., thus giv- ing ourselves ample time to see scmetliing of the greatest inland city of the United States. We hear a great deal in Ontario about the difculties and dangers that beset travellers and tourists in this city, but I am convinced now that if trav- ellers attend to their own business and keep their minds to themselves they are just as safe in Chicago as in any other city. `We found the train ofcials .very- obliging and wil- ling to answer any questions.
