He felt honored at being elected Hon. Vice-President. He said a re-union such as this caused strange feelings; it made him think of forty years ago, when he heard Senator Gowan on the Bench with the Mo- Carthys, Boultons and 7 others well known to Barrie citizens. cI`he- distin- guished men Simcoe County produced were such as any place might be proud of. He believed the Oslers were among them. He referred to Senator Gowan s stand against the telephone company in the Senate, when the Senator had taken the stand that the time had come when the people s interests should be oon-- sidered above everything. else.` The most valuable asset any country could have was its men. It was the men like those of Simcoe County that had made Ontario lead at the Chicago World's Fair; we had a better class of people, with a higher standard of in- dustrial qualities. Mr. T. Herbert Leonox was the next speaker. As an Old Boy he was perfectly delighted to be there. Mr. Leighton McCarthy, M,P.,. was then called upon'to address the people. He said that he was placed in a pecu; liar position. He was being honored as one of the Old Boys, and being made welcome as he was one ofthe oicers, though, he said,,he. had not been able to do any work as such. On the other hand, as representative of this riding, hewas entitled to extend a welcome to the Old -Boys, which he heartily did. We had always been taught, nay had learned by instinct, to love the dear old town. They were proud of the Old Boys, but he thought they might have appended to the name of Old Boys the name of New Girls, for though he did know most of the boys, the girls on the train were new to him. It was their duty to extend to the wives of the Old Boys a hearty `welcome. `He also referred to the debt ot gratitude to the officers for haying organized the As- sociation.
