A. Lewis lost a sow, and after searching many days and nights discovered she - had been placed in pound by Major Cooke and that 810.75 were against her in costs and damages. The plaintiff de- clined to ransom the sow and she was sold. Lewis brought suit for damages against Major Cooke, claiming $26.50 for the wrongful sale of the sow. ,The plainti` told the story of the loss of the cow and the trouble he had in nd- ing her. H e knew another sow that could not be bought for $25 that be reckoned was not half as good as his now. He was somewhat modest, how- ever, when asked to place a value on the lost sow, `but nally aware that she was worth at least $20. He refused to pay $7 for the damages done by the sow to Major Cooke's wheat eld be- cause she had got in through a defec- tive fence. A neughtru wedding, A quiet, but very beautiful and im- pressive wedding was witnessed Wed- nesday evening, August 3rd, 1898, at about 6 o'clock, at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson, of Wahpe- ton, `North Dakota, when their daughtsr,_Miss Maude, and Rev. Ed- ward Lee were united in the holy bonds of matrimony by _Rev. A. T. Foster, pastor of the Methodist church. Quite a number of friends of the happy couple were present from out of town, together withimany of the bride's young lady associates, and other friends and neigh- bors of the family. ' `At 8 o o1ock the newly wedded couple I boarded the Northern Pacic train for Fergus Falls,` where they will spend a few days, and then Mr. Lee will return to the eld of his ministerial labors. Mr. Lee came to in the latter part of November, 1894, and, under the auspices of the Salvation Army, proceeded to organize a corps in this city. . He continued in this work for nearly a year, and was encouraged by seeing during that time nearly one hundred bow at the dpenitent form.
