The `plaintiff adduced evi- dence -at the trial to show that _the sales were . invalid. owing to neglect of certain duties on the part of the township oicials, and also that the defendant Stewart was the real purchaser at the tax sales, having bought through agents. His Lordship held that this latter ground was fully established, and that owing to the defendant Stewart s oicial position, it was wrong of him to be a purchaser at such tax sales, even indirectly, and the sales were therefore set aside and the defendants ordered to restore the lands to the plaintiff s name.
