L A Rownr 0r.om.--In an old shanty on a piece of property in the Eastern suburbs of town, known as Dllcliwortli Place, lives a. well-known character named Jim Barry. 4 Jim, like many another Irislnnan, is ad-_ _ dicted to the crathur, and sometimes when under the inuence has ' a little jamboree - at his house. Wednesday night of last week the hut was the scene `of a regular drunken revel, in which three notorious young men of town and an abandoned female, rfccentlyont from Scotland ,_ were the principal actors. A Whether Jim was at home at the time has not been learned, but whether he was` or was, not, the fes- tivities went on, and, to judge from the description of them by- a witness, they must have furnished one of the traditional - sights for sore eyes. The three young rowdies were crazy drunk, and eng. "ed in applauding the terpsiohorean featsof the girl, who, with very little on her person, was performing reels.stra.thspeys,ghillie cal- lums, and other wild gyrations which peo- ple of her nationality are generally regard: c"l as excelling in. To wind up the pro- ceedings the roxviliesnally began to smash up the house and its furniture, which they succeeded in doing pretty completely. 3 The police, we believe, have been notied of the disgraceful affair and will endeavour to `bring to hook the parcicipators in it. - --- I .____. 3[ rk. Boru\V:aLL.-'1`I1is case was of too trivial a nature to call for any remarks from us last weel.~:, nor would we now refer to'it, were it not for the promi- nence accorded it in the highly sensational and very unfair report given of it by the ,To1`()11tO 1'clcg;rum. The facts of the case as it occurred are briey these 2 On the. 9th inst an Oro farmer came to "market with a load of wheat. Mr. Bothwell was the lirst to inspect it, and offered 90c. per bushel for it. There were, however, a few bags amongst it of an `inferior quality, which he 1`ufue(l to have at any price. .\tt-;-rwards Mr. McMillan examined the , grain and offered the same price for it, but agreed to take "the inferior also.` The far- mcr came to Bothwell and told him of the offer he had got ; _he advised him to close with it, as itwas unlikely he, would do any better. Some time after the farmer again ` came to Bothwell and stated that when he , took the wheat to the mill McMillan refus- cdto receive it, stating that ' he only told ` him it was worth 90c., and that he had not intended to buy it. On hearing this Both-_ well O.\`Cl:1l111e(l, It s just] like him, or words to that ctl'ect, refused to have any- thing further to do with the wheat, and dismissed the matter from his thoughts 31- together, until sometime after,when,pass- ing the mill, Mcl\'Iillan rushed out onithe sidewalk, and, barring the way, wildly de~ manded if he had made use of the above expression, which he at once . admitted. McMillan, then excitedly called him a liar. This proved evidently too `much `for l1u'r_nan nature, especially Irish nature, to bear,a`nd, Bothwcll immediately struck him in the face with his clenched fist and tried to` pass on, when McMillan again made nse of some opprobrious` epithet, which Bothwell again resented by striking him and `black- ing his eye. A general tussle then ensued, which was speedily put a stop to by the appearance of a constable on the scene. The Tclcgrain correspondent has. spread himself rather much over this affair. Some able-bodied man ought to sit down on him, or pack him away in` ice. s He's too fresh. 7 -Mr. Smn. `Moore, a.
