Wednesday night of last week the hut was the scene `of a regular drunken revel, in which three notorious young men of town and an abandoned female, rfccentlyont from Scotland ,_ were the principal actors. A Whether Jim was at home at the time has not been learned, but whether he was` or was, not, the fes- tivities went on, and, to judge from the description of them by- a witness, they must have furnished one of the traditional - sights for sore eyes. The facts of the case as it occurred are briey these 2 On the. 9th inst an Oro farmer came to "market with a load of wheat. Mr. Bothwell was the lirst to inspect it, and offered 90c. per bushel for it. There were, however, a few bags amongst it of an `inferior quality, which he 1`ufue(l to have at any price. .\tt-;-rwards Mr. McMillan examined the , grain and offered the same price for it, but agreed to take "the inferior also.` The far- mcr came to Bothwell and told him of the offer he had got ; _he advised him to close with it, as itwas unlikely he, would do any better. Some time after the farmer again ` came to Bothwell and stated that when he , took the wheat to the mill McMillan refus- cdto receive it, stating that ' he only told ` him it was worth 90c., and that he had not intended to buy it. McMillan, then excitedly called him a liar. This proved evidently too `much `for l1u'r_nan nature, especially Irish nature, to bear,a`nd, Bothwcll immediately struck him in the face with his clenched fist and tried to` pass on, when McMillan again made nse of some opprobrious` epithet, which Bothwell again resented by striking him and `black- ing his eye.
