Upon` a visit to the hospital, late last night, the most of them were iound to be lying asleep, though some appeared to be rather in a state of stupor. The swollen heads, cuts and bruises, and blood not yet washed away, of those who were seen, presented a ghastly appearance. One of the attendants remarked, in an_swer to a question, that the most intelligent one of those in his oharge, alarge, man who was badly- hurt, and was then sleeping quietly, had talked freely when rstbrought in, but evaded all questions as -to the ori- gin of the affray. During the night," numerous friends of the wounded men visited the wards, and were to be seen silently assisting the attendants in pro- viding for their wants, or simply stand- ing by the bedside and sadly contem- plating the painful breathing `of the suf- ferer. In the course of the_ evening `several men came to the hospital to have their wounds dressed, one of them to have aba_ll'cxtracted from his leg, and then-returned to their homes. I At midnight their were still to be seen groups, chiey of Irishmen, in` the vicinity of the h`osp_ital.`w`aiting for the scraps of news brought out by those to whom admission within the hospital was granted. MAnoc,County of!-Iastings, . - Province of Ontario, Feb. 9th,lS69. This is to certify that during the winter of 1866 I was taken with a weakness at the uncles, which gradually, during the spring of 1867, extended to my knees, and on up to in hips, and I became so weakthat I could not wal , but was conned to my chair. For a1_>out two years, while this weakness was coming on me, and afterwards, I sought medical advice, employing, at different times, three doctors, and medicines or` different kinds, prescribed by lriends, but, of no avail, I continued to get worse and worse, until the sum- mer ofl86S, when I was induced to try the great Shoshonees Remedy by reading the ciires perform- ed, in`a pamphlet. At this time 1 had begun to feel the weakness in my hands ; in tact I was get- ting almost helpless. I have taken two bottles of the Shoshonees Remedy and two boxes ofthe pills and I am entirely,restored_ to health. I never ex- pected to get better, but simply tried the medicine as asort of forlorn hope. This case of mine was not a private one, but known to all my neighbors and iiiends;'and to any one afflicted as I was, I have only to say try the Shoshonees Remedy; I believe it willcure you. Ina short time. after the procession had passed, however,an incipient disturbance took place on the Boulevard between the symathizers with those in the procession and their opponents. Two or three of the. men at work there got intoawrangle,"which ended without anything more serious than words. The incident was only signicant in the light of the tragic events which subsequently occurred. Itshowed that the fell spirit of faction which led to so many bloody [deeds in days gone by on the 12th of July.in .1reland,ws.s kindled in the breasts of the labourers. In a brief time after this little row, the whole body of Boule- vard men, as if by "common consent `and preconcerted action, quitted work, and, each carrying whatever tools he was working with, they went in a ,body toward Elm Park, wheretlie Orangemen with their .wives and daughters were enjoying themselves. This was about 3.; in the afternoon. Within the Park there were perhaps 2,000 or 3,000 persons, men, women, andrchildren, all in the very height of hilarious enjoyment. [The Boulevard ` men-, and a'larg_c number of others who joined them, numbering in them all, at various estimates, from 70 to 200 men, then suddenly attacked those in the Park, especially the men ` wearing re- galia. They rst threw in the volleys ' of st-ones across the inclosures. Those `within instantly retaliated, but nding themselves hampered, rushed out of the einclosure on their antagonists, and the zght became general. The women and children, in consternation endeav- oured, with but poor success, to` get as far from the scene of action as possible, and sought refuge in any nook that `of- fered promise of shelter.
