baseball league has commenced its tenth year of operation in its nine year history the league has provided recreation and entertainment for a vast group of sports enthusiasts starting as a team league in 1946 it grew to a 17 team cir cuit in 1949 the ten charter teams in 1946 included cambray cameron little britain valentia lindsay cannington sunder land woodville bolsoyer and manilla in 1947 oakwood and beaverton joined the group and sutton and port perry swelled the ranks to fourteen teams in 194s the following year fenelon falls bobcaygeon sonya and stouffville were added and canning- ton amalgamated with manilla in 1953 the league was split and a number of the smaller hamlets formed an independent league they have continued to operate in their own closely knit group this year sutton amalgamated with sunderland and newmarket entered the tri- county for the first time since 1926 new recruits the stouffulle red sox are sticking to home town talent this season the management has signed three additional stars to the lineup who have not performed under the local colors in past year don haynes reliable catcher with the juvenile ball club last summer will share the receiving chores with hal gibson jack watson and george stark well known locally for their hockey and softball talents have also taken part in scheduled games and will probably be used regularly murray mcmullen
