home with a severe at tack of shingles during the past three weeks mr lyman pilkey has re turned home after a three weeks visit in aurora we un derstand he was in poor health while away from home and place friday morning dar lene will be in the hospital a- bout a week the goodwood united church was the scene of much activity last wednesday even ing when the ladies of the com munity served a hot turkey supper to over five hundred people the serving started at 530 and by six oclock the ta bles in the basement were fil led and the church upstairs granger hilda jordison and i herb wagg at the end of the program the church was clear ed and tilled to capacity the second time at the close o both performances mr jordi son thanked the ladies for an excellent supper and the per formers for a wonderful prog ram the red lamp brought much laughter and applause and the cast and director were liberally complimented on a fine performance the supper committee and program com mittee wish to thank all those who contributed to make the evening a success prayer meeting and merry mixers meeting were combin ed at the united church last friday evening with mr roy jordison taking the devotion al period and showing very in teresting colored slides of the people and the work carried on at fred victor mission in toronto for the merry mix ers program president wm hewlett introduced suest spea ker mrs robert nesbitt who read a very detailed and well written description of her trip to thfc british isles at the time of the coronation during the short business meeting which followed it was decided 50 percent of the proceeds from this penformance be donated to the baptist young peoples society in appreciation of the time spent by some of their members in past and present merry mixer plays here
