over work is under way in wind sor the large scale project in this city affecting some 31000 custo mers standardization commenced at the end of june in north york and operations in this heavily populated suburb of toronto affecting over 28000 customers will take an estimated period of ten months completion of standardization in five areas and work now in pro gress in other districts has reduc ed the size of the 25cycle island by more than 4800 square miles the estimated 783000 domestic customers affected by the com missions standardization program make this project the largest of its kind ever undertaken and 737551 of the total number of items changed over to june 30 1952 be longed to 19s531 domestic custom ers statistics reveal that hydros southern ontario domestic custom ers own on the average four frequencysensitive items reflect ing the high standard of living enjoyed by the people of this pro vince a survey made in 1947 showed a saturation of 27 frequency- sensitive items per domestic cus tomer this increase of more than 14 per cent coupled with the add ed costs of labour and materials will undoubtedly increase the over all cost of the frequency standard ization stated summer residents at musselmans lake for the past twentythree years mr and mrs geo dowdell were snapped here by the tribune cameraman standing in front of their cottage mr dowdell is an employee of the t eaton co and first began his annual treks to musselmans when there were only about a hundred cottagers around the lake today there are seven hundred mrs dowdell has very firm connections with stouffville her brother richard dick george operated the first electric light plant this community had over half a century ago mr george is eightynine years old and will travel from his home in new york for the 75th anniversary celebra tion in stouffville this coming weekend he also operated a lum ber business on the site of the present harry stover residence the dowdells can relate great changes which they have seen transpire in the lake in a quarter century the now famous cedar beach was only high sand banks at twentyfive years ago they re call and there were only three or four boats owned on the lake the road about the lake was rough and dusty the dowdells were prominent in the musselmans lake ratepayers association which more or less dis banded about ten years ago mrs dowdell it is interesting to note is a niece of mrs jos hoover and a fust cousin of constable ira rusnell she told the tribune reporter she had no less than fiftysix first cousins she recalls interesting school
