this week the guests of mr and mrs john madsen the presence of a number of young people who are at present attend ing folk school at cherry hill farm ad ded much to the group discussions and to the general interest of the meeting these young folks have come from vai- ious points in ontario and from the western provinces after the discussion on the theme of the evening what has happened to the country doctor and how to get better health services for rural areas the pupils of the folk school entertained with a skit farm forum evening which was much appre ciated delicious refreshments were served by mrs madsen after which community singing featuring the much loved christ mas carols was most heartily entered in to by all a hearty vote of appreciation to mr and mrs madsen for their won derful hospitality and excellent commun ity endeavors was expressed by member of greenwood and edgeley forums mr and mrs madsen most graciously replied expressing their pleasure at having pres ent such a splendid representation of farm forum members in the course of their remarks they dwelt upon the work which is so dear to their hearts that of conducting folk school classes and the lasting dec 1st in the church mr mctaggart sr has gone to the city to stay with relatives for the winter months the wms for the circuit will meet at the home of mrs rev monkman on dec 7th this is the annnual meeting the charles wilson family of brooklin attended church services last sunday also visited with relatives the anniversary services of last sun day were very well attended despite the unfavorable weather the sermons deliv ered by rev mcquade of oshawa and rev e g robinson of pickering were very inspiring also the anthems rendered by the choir and the solos by mrs j stone of oshawa the regular meeting of the evening auxiliary of the wms was held at the home of misses mildred and gertrude corbett on wednesday evening november 22nd mrs c closson was in charge of the worship service on the theme one in christ the chapter of the study book with the title all japan for christ was presented by mrs r jackman the dia logue between the united church in canada and the united church of christ in japan was given by mrs f webb and miss edith ormerod the business period followed under the leadership of the president mrs e pegg ggty card of thanks markham township electors ladies and gentlemen
