holiday at the home of mr and mrs wm palmer mrs sarah wadde and sister mabel of stouffville attended the funeral of the late mrs ed pugh on saturday mr and mrs jack duncan of newmarket visited during the holi day at the home of her parents mr and mrs nelson sanderson mr and mrs alex morgan of sarnia were visitors here during the weekend and attended the fun eral of his sister the late mrs ed pugh mr and mrs ed lewis also mr and mrs sam taylor spent christ mas in oshawa at the home of mr and mrs gordon graham christmas crowds to and from the village taxed the capacity of the local bus line was post poned through high prices and lack of tenders no definite decision was made as to whether an attempt should be made to have the work done this coming summer late mrs ed pugh had spent lifetime here the death of mrs ed pugh last week removed a lifelong resident of the claremont district deceased was the former jennie pearl mor gan daughter of the late duncan and sarah morgan and was in her 55th year she bad been in poor health for some time the late mrs pugh was a faithful member of the baptist church where she attended regularly until ill health befel her besides her husband she is sur vived by two sisters margaret mrs david pugh claremont and flossie mrs leslie feasby sand- ford there are two brothers roy of claremont and alec of sarnia the funeral on saturday was con ducted from the late residence just south of the village to the baptist church for service rev len wen- ham conducted the service assisted by rev i e kennedy interment was made in claremont union cemetery and the pallbearers were messrs jos farr henry johnston ed lewis jas coates norman burton and frank hutchings caught off guard beefbaters blush and the late mrs linton of clare mont and had resided in the locality her entire life time she was in her 41st year deceased attended the united church but chose to be most active in the caring of her home she is survived by two brothers stanley of gananoque and earl dunbarton and three sisters laura mrs c reynolds margaret mrs e baker doris mrs h hopkins all of clare mont the funeral on friday was con ducted from the late home by rev i e the fjord near our house there were forty bombers they same right over our house and we ran to the door and shouted an yelled hurrah it was a dreadful night when daylight came again our house was in a frightful state the plaster moulding pictures dishes were on the floor what was left of the window panes and the boards over the windows were gone too also all our clothes etc we had to apply for more clothes and shoes the shoes were usually too small so we had to wear over size ones consequently our feet have been made sore from using them well i must close thank your husband and you for the nice coat i hope everything will be al right from now on for up until now we have gone in our petticoats my oldest daughter has been away this summer i am 48 years old my man is 59 years old his name is to ontario county as agricultural represent ative in 1941 mr campbell has been a dynamic worker in the interest of agriculture in ontario county and was particularly active in organiz ing the junior farmer movement there he acted as secretary- treasurer of the county crop im provement association and in 1944 was president of the uxbridge kins men club h lynn fair who moves from hastings to ontario county is also an oac graduate having secured his degree in 1930 at the ontario agricultural college he was active in sports in the work of the phil harmonic society and in organiza tion of the college royal show since graduation he has had a varied experience from 1930 to 1932 he was assistant agricultural representative in wellington countv and the muskokaparry sound district also serving for a period in middlesex he then spent six- months with the forestry ser vice at kanuskasing and in 1933 joined the hog producers associa tion the junior farmers associa tion and the stirling banner oat association ife has been secretary of the county crop imnrovement association and the advisory agri cultural committee of the hastings countv council he is also presi dent of the centre hastings rural hockey league mr fair has also been a great worker with the junior farmers and under his guidance hastings reached an enviable position in junior farmer organization his departure from
