band gave us a concert for about one hour to a large crowd who had gathered the address vas given at the church by rev b garrett at the park the master of the lodge walter todd thanked the people for such a fine gather ing and also the band for their-ser- vices also the head mistress of the ladies lodge thanked the people for coming out in such large numbers and the band for their fine music and a long list of suggested improvements in south pickering on tuesday and suggested that the council be en larged to at least seven members in order that the south might have more representation owing to their larger population the suggested improvements in cluded a new polling subdivision at dunburton a sidewalk for the school children more dust layer new bridge on concession 1- new ditches mosquito control enlarged police force garbage collection school area more snowplowing mr brown addressing the town ship council stated that the south desired these improvements but hoped that they could be obtained without being made burdensome for the north ratepayers who would not benefit by many of the changes the deputation stated that while they believed constable irvine was doing an excellent job the work was too great and that he should have under him a force of three or four constables to cover the entire township reeve annis pointed out to the ratepayers that law enforcement costs had risen from 700 to 52900 during the war clerk johnston stated that he had been in touch with the municipal department and that while there is no bar to enlarging the council the fiveman board
