uxbridge one evening re cently mr and mrs f- crosier ajax were recent guests with mr and mrs david crosier their son has just arrived on a hospital ship from overseas miss margaret wallace in charge of the school for the past two years wishes at the close of her term to convey her most sincere thanks to one and all who have made her stay so pleasant- mr and mrs howard st john jary and diane mr and mrs w slack and betty ann and mrs wm malloy of stouffville had tea on sunday evening with their parents mr and mrs david crosier miss margaret wallace had tea on thursday evening last with mr and mr w carter laterona num ber of girls came as a surprise and a very sociable evening was spent and during the eveninga presenta tion was made to miss wallace of a tray and a half dozen water glasses as a token of remembrance during her stay as teacher in this com munity peachs decoration the annual memorial service at peachs cemetery will be held on sunday july 15th at 20 pjo the cormley quartette will provide special music and rev r chapin will be the speaker 93 david henry howe friends of -mrs- d hshowe formerly annie -bowers- daughter of mr and mrs george bowers will be sorry to learn of the death of her husband david henry howe at the private patients pavilion toronto general hospital on mon day june 18th in his 67th year mr and mrs howe have been liv ing at 5836 holcomb st detroit for 20 years where their only daughter mrs norman gurnett lives they came to hillsburg ont a month ago thinking mr howes health which had not- been good since march would improve how ever he became weaker and had to be taken to the hospital in toronto on june 12th the funeral service was held from the bowes funeral home hillsburg- on wednesday june 20th with burial in the family plot there he was dearly loved and respect ed by all who knew him and will be sadly missed by his family be sides his widow one daughter and four grandchildren an only brother survives his oldest grandson jckson gurnett is with the ameri can army in germany v- balsam if vbulikeifiowersjusttake a look overbalsam there are some excellent gardens to be seen here -george- wilson of balsam is suffering from an acute heart condi tion and his friends hope for an early recovery ml zion held its annual picnic on saturday which proved a wonder ful fine day for the happy event charles day is visiting with mr to the output of the red berries con siderably the wife of richard day arrived here from scotland on june 18 and received a grand welcome at the home of charlies parents mr and mrs richard day his war bride from glasgow reports that she received excellent treatment from the red cross enroute to canada and otherwise the voyage was most pleasant too since the weather was nice and such pests as submarines were not in evidence any more 8th line markham baptist church scene of pretty wedding a quietvedding was solemnized saturday evening june 23rd in stouffville baptist church when harriet dawson daughter of mr and mrs wm maye of goodwood became the bride of pte dean percy youngest son of mr and mrs walter percy of markham rev d macgregor officiated the bride was becomingly gown ed in a street length dress of blush biege crepe with brown accessories and corsage of pink roses she wore a handsome boliva watch the gift of the groom miss henrietta percy sister of the groom acted as maid of honor and wore a street length dress in shade of gold with brown accessories miss olive maye as bridesmaid wore a printed silk jersey with brown accessories both bridesmaids had corsages of johanna hill roses the best man was mr john maye brother of the bride following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the brides parents for the immedi ate families the couple will make their home in the wideman church last tuesday when the funeral of the late jacob smith almira was held with burial in the adjoining cemetery a large number of relatives and friends were present to pay their last respects to the memory of the departed growers of cabbage and brussel sprouts in this locality where there is quite a large acreage grown have commenced operations for the season a good deal of
