do without the paper writing from rokebv sask an old resident of this district a good many years ago james h white writes another year is almost gone and it is time for my renewal to your valuable paper i have been taking it almost 40 years and i cant really do without it it is a higher class paper now than ever the tribune appreciates the fore going from mr white and wish for him many more years in which to enjoy the home paper the barrie loval true blue lodge sold a lot of tickets in and about stouffville for their draw for ten 50 certificates but no one was fortunate enough to be winners here burlington pembroke king ston beamsville tottenham st thomas and st catharines had winners and indicate the wide pat ronage the sale of tickets enjoyed the proceeds of the sale were for the tb home and benevolent fund there wasnt even a winner in the home town of barrie where the sale originated christmas from her studies at mcmaster university hamilton there will be no issue of the globe and mail on dec 26 accord ing to an announcement made by the management there will how ever be a paper issued on christ mas day ten below zefo on monday morn ing was followed by a bright sun shine with moderating temperat ure real christmas weather every body is hoping that there will be no more snow to spoil the roads just opened- sublieut norman a baker a recent graduate of kings naval college halifax has been appoint ed a training officer on board one of his majestys canadian training ships operating out of cornwallis ns victor is a staff sergeant with the army stationed at svdney ns big question that may call for a i solution is can the council continue to remove the snow from the busi ness section of main street at the expense of the general taxpayer in the event of a series of such snow storms as we had early last week one solution might be for the town to supply the trucks and the mer chants the manpower in the form of a bee its something to think about since a quick decision might be sought if the situation suddenly arose whereby we found ourselves under two or three feet of snow again business men not equal to the task of shovelling could supply another workman in their stead there is a limit to what the aver age tax payer would consent to have spent on snow removal and yet to adequately carry on business the main street must be kept open in order to accommodate traffic and parked cars a grand job was done in removing the recent depth of snow and the 1944 council de serve credit for their prompt action nevertheless we ask is there a limit to what can be spent in this work papers travel par among the christmas gift copies of the tribune to be sent forward for 1915 is one from as far as vir ginia in the south and port coquit- ian british week when she laid three eggs in one day in fact this biddy performed the whole feat in only a few minutes and we have the word of mrs shadlock she was gathering the hen fruit when the leghorn laid the first egg jumped off the nest but immediately returned to it to de posit the second egg when she jumped up in a rush and presented the farmers wife with a third egg the lady was astonished to say the least the hen seemed to think she was pushed for time and neglected to encase the last egg in a hard shell otherwise the quarter dozen made in record time was perfect if anyone can beat these eggs
