association under the defense of canada regulations has been lifted by an orderincouncil dated june 13 it was learned this week petitions were liberally sign ed in stouffville having a bearing on the sanction just given the order provides that all pro perty and interests in canada or proceeds from property held by the official custodian is to be released to the organization the international bible students association was one of a number of organizations declared illegal under the defense of canada regulations and membership or attendance at meetings was an offence a house of commons committee studying the defense of canada re gulations in 1942 recommended that the ban on the organizations which included the communist party be lifted but the report was not adop ted by the commons the canadian office of jehovahs witnesses at toronto announced that the ban on the organizations legal corporation the international bible students association of america was removed by an order dated june 13th the ban was placed on the wit nesses and on the association in 1910 and that on the witnesses was removed last october this will mean it is understood that the literature of the watchtow- er satisfactory since there was no rain and an ab sence of a blistering sun a large crowd attended the memorial ser vice at stouffville cemetery sunday af ternoon rev gibson brown con ducted the service and was assisted by rev d davis the atha trio and miss alice forsyth cornetist the grounds looked beautiful and many expressions of commendation were heard about the splendid condition of the sacred place visitors from toronto and surrounding communi ties were greatly in evidence while again in the evening scores of peo ple spent an hour at the cemetery in quiet meditation and admiration many enquiries were heard about the progress of making a more at tractive entrance and new chapel to be built for which funds are now on hand this matter will be large ly decided by the cemetery commis
