phone 253 stouffville ontario th victory loan heres a farmers viewpoint from the barrie examiner of september 23 1943 to the editor the barrie examiner sir 1 see by the globe and mail that the ccf had a meeting in a toronto hotel last weekend where they decided to appoint rural and urban organizers and make a de termined effort to win farm support as part of an immediate campaign for four months the first thing that strikes me is the fact that they thus admit having so little support from the farmers another thing and one which seems new in politics is the hold ing of one of their most important business meetings on sunday a- bout the only reference i could see to saturday business was a dinner where some 700 ccf members took part choosing sunday was utterly against- the fourth com mandment such a choice made to suit the convenience of the law yers teachers exteachers profes sors labor organizers etc etc who seem to be the driving force behind the ccf certainly does not appeal to the farmers jtiny times a year such an amount of time as is set a- part for sunday would he immensely valuable to us especially in un certain weather at harvest yet very few farmers would ever think of not keeping the lords day another thing i notice in the re port is that there is no mention made of pressing the war even though all should realize the great need of putting forth our very best efforts to keep the enemy on the run so as to hasten the day of complete victory we farmers are sometimes charg- ed with being sot in our ways i maybe so but there are a lot of old truths and beliefs that are worth holding fast to agriculturist reconditioned cars and trucks paris auto supply auto supply jos parisi richmond hill ont phone 86 the editors mail stouffville oct 1913 editor tribune stouffville dear mr editor on my arrival in this town several years ago one of the things that struck me was the absence of a town hall and on several occasions i have expressed my continued sur prise to groups of fellow citizens this absence strikes home when driving through the country where in much less prosperous sections even little hamlets consisting of a small cluster of houses have their community halls surely a town which chalks tip such records when calls are made for red cross funds or such impressive totals are invested periodically in victory loans can afford a town hall a hall here is not a luxury it is a necessity as you have pointed out we pride ourselves on the beauty of our town and the evidences of prosperity that are apparent in the fertile area surrounding us so let us get busy with plans for something that will if properly designed be an ornament to our town dont let up mr editor unil we get action hopeful i visitors welcome its simple says
