material also iso 029 parcels of tobacco from the sub base in montreal in december the total was 1400 pieces of register ed mail 1227000 letters 144183 pounds of newsprint material and 609123 pounds of parcels and 1s9- s42 parcels of tobacco there were 300 of us working day and night while this volume of mail was being cleared put we had to re pack more than 2000 parcels which were received with flimsy coverings so that all the boys- could receive their christmas parcels in good con dition there was considerable improve ment in the correct addressing of soldiers mail but theres still room for saturday january 3rd was largely attended mr jennings who died on new years day was ill only a few hours and his passing was a shock to the neighbourhood born on the isle of wightmr jennings came with
