were in town on saturday also mr and mirs ken dopking of dundas all attending the ware- dopking wedding at messrs thompson and palmer have been putting some improve ments on the big chicken house on the zimmer farm 5th concession just north of brougham the local men have been building large single- pane windows on the south side of the house mr zimmer has 1200 chickens on his place at present with one especially good flock of 300 pullets in provincial competition messrs will burkett i dopking miller and baker are bowling this week in provincial competition at hamilton this foursome skipped by mr burkett were the district win- feathered pet dead the pet crow which has made its home for several years at the loyst irev and mrs glover of hastings place is no more apparently this high living in unnatural quarters was too much for the big black fel low and he died last week the crow which had been taught a few words and was also renowned as a watch dog received special publicity throu gh who has been farming with his father has rented the place about two miles south of claremout to be vacated by frank ham who is retiring after 42 years as a tenant on the same farm the farm lot 21 con 7 is owned by millard bros who certainly enjoyed a good tenant in mr ham recruiting drive reaches claremont the ontario regiment recruiting party visited claremout on wednes day night with a military band in at tendance last week saw the open ing of a recruiting campaign to be carried on throughout the county of ontario the transpoi tation for the outfit was furnished by headquar ters militarydistrict no 2 comman ded by major general constantine dso and the bugles and drums were of the second battalion of the ontario regiment tank steam wast stops canning opera tions coming just as
