every five years more than 600 descendants of the stauffer family pioneers of waterloo county attended the sixth quinquennial reunion held in waterloo park rela tives and countless friends attended from nearly every section of canada and distant points in united states if there had been any prize for the person attending from the greatest distance the award would have gone to mrs c schweitzer of oakland calif other areas represented were indiana michigan ohio penn sylvania saskatchewan toron to hamilton windsor preston gait kitchener waterloo grimsby woodstock stouff viue the lengthy program m- menced at 9 am with registra tion and continued until even ing including sports addresses and musical numbers follow ing dinner at noon the huge gathering moved to the band shell where they were address ed briefly by h c stauffer president of the reunion chris tian groh of hespelei spoke at length on members of the stauffer family who had passed away since the last reunion in 1934 a feature of the entire pro gram was an address of wel come by mayor wesley mckersie which was followed by a moment of silence in honor of departed members of trie family concluding with a pray er by rev cressman elizabeth masters took those present on a colorful word tour of the world which she re cently completed others who addressed the reunion were daniel stauffer pennsylvania elmer clayton park the next reunion slated for 1944 it is understood will also be held here branches of the stauffer family in united states unite each year and at saturdays re union the canadian stauffers were invited to attend the american stauffers getto gether next year one of the most highly re garded members of the family is mrs jacob snyder of water loo who has served as secre tarytreasurer of the reunions for more than 20 years according to harley stauffer president a meeting of the executive will be held some time in the future to elect new officers several having passed away since their around stouffviue born near uxbridge 85 year ago her maiden name was annie john ston she moved to mount forest in 1879 and had four daughters and three sons be sides the family her husband who is in his 92nd year also sur vives he was a brother of the late david rusnell of this town mr graham johnston of ux bridge who has just passed his 83rd birthday in company with his daughter mrs wm grove of dicksons hill attended the funeral at mount forest on wednesday he is the only sur viving brother of the late mrs rusnell saoiaoi send the tribune to absent qfriends victoria square mrs thos frisby spent saturday with friends in tor onto mrs h d mccague and john attended the laskay field day on saturday afternoon the members of the ypu enjoyed their annual picnic at lake simcoe on thursday mrs ethel butler of toronto is spending a two week holiday among her many friends here miss nellie seeley of england is spending a few days this week with her cousin mrs s boynton miss e perkins and three friends from hedford have re turned from a delightful week in a cottage in muskoka mr maurice farquharson miss donalda and master aiden had tea with friends in ux bridge on saturday mr e klinck sold the silo advertised in this paper to a buyer near musselmans lake it sure pays to advertise in the tribune mr and mrs stanley boyn ton and rev john and mrs mcdonald went to gravenhurst on thursday to visit mr herb boynton who is in the hospital there mr and mrs charles towel and mr and mrs a hutchison of thamesford and miss ethel towel of london were guests on sunday of mr and mrs h c bennett the young people gave mr and mrs martin styimo a loud and warm reception to their new home on friday evening mr and mrs styimo welcom ed the noisy visitors into their home and served a dainty lunch after which mr styimo gave them a generous gift which all present decided to give to the harold hendirck fund
