hired men albert hall and charles mcarthur late tonight and escaped with 300 in bank notes after tying mcbrien and his hired man together with rope mr mcbrien an uncle of the late fred g mcbrienmla for parkdale in the ontario legisla ture was preparing for bed when the three men with slitted black masks over their eyes entered the house each of the trio carried black automatics in their right hands stick your hands in the air said the leader as he stepped in to the farmers house mr mcbrien who had come to the door complied and the two hired men did likewise two of the armed thugs swiftly tied the legs and hands of the fanner and his helpers with rope then they rolled them on the floor and piled some kitchen furniture on top of them going systematically from room to room they searched all the drawers and found 300 hid den in the house in separate amounts after finding the money they left the house and were heard driving away in a motor car neither mcbrien nor the two hired men were attack ed by the armed trio after half an hour of tugging was then learned that fhe hydro at ropes which bound them the three men freed themselves it lines and the telephone line had been cut going to a neighbors house they telephoned constable h t hammer of the provincial police constable hammer im mediately broadcast the occurr ence of the robbery to the county and neighboring police the rob bery is believed to have taken place about 1030 but it was much later than that before the police were notified all roads were combed and motorists go ing or coming from summer re sorts at midnight were
