have gone to california to visit with the formers mother mrs w b sanders at holly wood miss kay houston and miss marion were guests of miss gertrude todd last week the young ladies will leave shortly for their home in dauphin man where kathleen will spend the month of august before re suming her teaching duties in ontario again in september mrs macrostie and miss norma macrostie of ottawa mr stan sharpe and miss marion were recent guests with mr and mrs f l button the baker hill young peoples union are scheduled to hold a meeting on friday even ing of this week in the church all members and friends of the church are cordially invited miss gladys brooks in com pany with her sister miss florence who is also a school teacher are in western canada on a vacation they will visit relatives in calgary after a trip to banff and other points of interest the local hardball team took on the oshawa oba juniors in memorial park here on wed nesday afternoon and a return game is expected in oshawa on saturday oshawa recently finished first in their lakeshore group mr and mrs theodore ward er of kitchener were sunday guests of mr and mrs harry stover mr and mrs arthur harris and miss betty jose toronto also miss helen moyer of omemee were guests of mr and mrs g r w thomas for a day or two mr and mrs t a mann of detroit are holidaying in town the home of mr and mrs ross davis mrs mann and mrs davis are sisters mr mann is an employee of the city tax dept in the big michigan centre a car belonging to howard macklem was stolen in broad daylight on sunday afternoon from the ebenezer church cannington where he has been enjoying a holiday with his grandfather mr chas urquhart motored down from jacksons point last week to take in the bowling tournament and visit with his sister miss may urquhart mr percy brillinger we are informed has purchased the frame house on albert street be longing to the jacob fockler estate mr brillinger intends to put on a few touches that will bring the
