stouffville tribune dear sir in tho last issue of the tribune i notice a letter from mr john a white who was a candidate for tho office ot reeve of pickering town ship and evidently attributes his defeat to mr roy ward road supt and to your humble servant the assessor i beg to say that since being appointed assessor of tho munici pality in 1927 i have not taken part in any of the municial contests and did not in the last one mr white is wrong in attribut ing defeat to the names of 25 non resident voters to the munici pal voters list they were added on application of ratepayers residing in the polling sub divisions and were then put on by tho icounty judge as there are 5g2 names on the voters list for that polling division of which 458 are non residents and the total votes polled there number ing 106 it cannot be said that there was a very heavy vote polled there or that the addition of 25 would make much difference however i believe all the nonresident persons on the list for that polling division are bonafide owners and had the right to vote i also beg to say that my salary as assessor is 400 and 10c per each dog entered for assessment thanking you for the space accord ed
