church to the strains of the wedding march by lohengrin she looked lovely in a period gown of white chiffon velvet and silk net her tulle veil was held in place by a tiara of pearls and orange blossoms and she carried a shower bouquet of butterfly roses and lily of the valley the bride was attended by her sister miss edythe forster who wore most attractive period gown of shell pink with mohair picture hat to match she carried ophelia roses mr russel mcallister supported the groom while the ushers were mr arthur cooper and mr e waddell during t lie signing of the register mr e claire forster sang until after the ceremony a reaeption was held at the home of the brides par ents 31 mount royal ave later the bride and groom left for a motor trip through quebec on their return they will reside at the broadway manor apartments a liberal citizen lost to markham mrs thomas morgan passed away at markham in her seventyninth year the deceased was born near campbellville hallon county in 1851 and in 1ss5 she was married to thomas morgan who died in 191g mrs morgan was the last of the morgan family of markham who purchased in 1s32 the present property on main street in which the family continuously resided mrs morgan leaves a sister mrs porter of vancouver b c and an adopted daughter mrs e h dun can of toronto besides a number of nieces and nephews continuing the practice of both her husband and brotherinlaw the late george morgan who had given large sums for public and charitable purposes endowing not only hospitals and churches but also markham village with an unusually largo fund morgan memorial park being established by that village to commemorate the family mrs morgan also gave very substantial amounts for charitable and church purposes especially to the now st took place in the ninth line baptist church last thursday afternoon at three oclock when georgena pearl youngest daughter of the late mr and mrs wm batt was united in marriage to john knight son of mr and mrs s w knight of this line the church was artistically decorated with autumn flowers jerns and house plants for the ceremony which was performed by the pastor rev w w fleischer to the strains of the wedding inarch played by mrs latcham ot goodwood sister of the groom the bride looking lovely in her gown of blue georgette with hat and shoes to match carrying a shower bouquet of j pale pink roses babys breath and ferns entered on the arm of her brother hector after the cere mony the happy couple remained in the vestibule of the church to bid all their friends farewell before their departure that evening as missionar ies to jamaica the church was filled with friends from far and near it being the first wedding ever held in this church among those present at the church wedding local match will take place on thursday october 24th one day earlier than previously announced the annual conference of the menuonite brethren in christ which was held this year at new dundee south of kitchener marked another mile stone in the onward march of this denomination in their great work for the advancement of gods kingdom here on earth pastor shantz or the stouffville church with the local delegate mr abram stouffer represented the local field it will be pleasant for the local congregation to learn that mr shantz is to remain for a fourth term on this charge and the only change here in this regard is that a new helper was chosen for the stouffville circuit in ernest lucas of gormley who is not altogether a stranger among the people here in respect to the elders the same men who have been serving s goudle and a bricker- were re elected but their fields of labor have been exchanged thus mr goudie will be on the local ground again which will be more convenient for him it is
