the budding of the spring poet the march number of a booklet named the casa star published by the canadian automobile service asso elation is to hsyid and therein are words from a stouffville poet mr frederick marshall of local bank fame under the caption the march of seasons he pens these words when the snow is melting on the hills and the first faint note of the blue bird trills then we know mother nature will soon be atune to the sound of the great reveille and lo tis gentle spring when the sun rides high in thewes- tern sky and the oriole sings in the elm on high when my being aches for the northland lakes then tis glorious summer when the red and gold are on the leaves and the mellowing breeze sight through the trees when the ducks take wing and the bullets ping then i know tis autumn when boreas shakes his hoary mane and jack frost paints the window pane then out across the gloaming bay the speeding ico boats skim away and once again tis winter judgeship for claremont fortieth year of publication the business of this newspaper came into existence ten years after stouffville became an incorporated village and ever since has stood the test of the times there are those who long ago predicted that the big city daily would ultimately crowd out the small town papers but we never be lieved this a newspaper reflects the com munity sentiment and it must be like losing an old friend to part with tho home paper even in our short career we have seen however many weeklies pass out of existence through failure or amalgamation but the stronger local papers pro pedestrains and motorists but we seldom if ever read of the sad re sults of the carelessness of open- faced sneezers nevertheless the openfaced sneezer is more dangerous than tho careless motorist a person is guilty of criminal negligence who is care less and lacks consideration for others who without any thought sneezes showering particles of mat erial crom his nose and throat all around him a man who strikes another is guilty of assault public opinion as expressed in the law does not allow of such assaults and requires that the person who commits one be pun ished a far more dangerous assault is committed by the careless sneezer public opinion should recognize thla and stop it disease germs pass out in the se cretion of the nose and mouth a neozg casts a germladen spray for ten feet it the sneezer cover his nose and mouth with a handkerchief tho danger is practically ended if the desire to sneezo is too sudden to allow of using the handkerchief the head can at least be lowered and the spray directed to the floor not into j other peoples faces in addition to those actually ill many persons carry disease germs in their nose and throat peoplo with colds continue to go about their business ifor these reasons the sneeze may bo the means of spread- j ing disease and for these reasons also an end should be put to the openfaced sneezer questions concerning health ad
