weather conditions mr and mrs thos w klinck celebrat ed the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding at four oclock about sixty invited guests assembled who after an in formal social hour sat down to a dainty wedding supper served at small tables on the lawn from large prettily decorated table laden with a great variety of good thihgi after all had witnessed the ctt- ing of tha cake by the bride and had partaken there was a short pro gramme of toasts and music mr h o klinck youngest- son of the happy couple acted as toast master after the toast to the king had been drank he read telegrams of re gret from absent ones and express ed in a few words the warm feel ings of appreciation the family hold towards their parents the hosts of the afternoon upon mr w scott of victoria square fell the honjr of proposing the toast to the bride this he did in a graceful lid complimentary manner speakinrf much of the char acter of the bride during her girl hood and of tha couple as parents neighbors in the dress worn by the host seventy years ago- added interest and amusement to the program in the evening mr and mrsklinck held a public reception when a large number of friends and ac quaintances gathered to offer con gratulations and best wishes the stouffville citizens band also did honor to the hosts of the evening by appearing upon the scene and de livering a brief musical serenade mrs klinck is the only child of the date mr and mrs sylvanus woodard and was a resident of king township until her marriage in 1876 mr klinck was born on the old homestead at victoria square where he and his chosen partner re sided until their retirement to stouffville twenty years ago of a family of twelve children mr- klinck is the only surviving member mr and mrs klinck reared and educated a family of six children all of whom are now living except cecil the second son whose work in scientific agriculture at the oa c was cut short four years ago the five now living were all present on this anniversary occasion drklinck president of the university of brit- isw- columbia having come the greatest distance to attend it was a matter for regret by all present that the latters wife and also his son ronald were unable to attend to the innumerable congratula tions received by this happy couple who have enjoyed fifty years of wedded life the tribune wishes to tender its sincere good wishes for many more years of health and hap piness j with startling suddenness last fri- day afternoon june isth 1926 fol- ronto visited her parents mr a e passing away of his life mrs d a mcconnochie over the j teu aays prions to ni s death mr rae was s6 years of age last christinas and his ending was as bright and peaceful as had been his whole life a man of quiet temperament and holy impulses he had no enemies but rather enjoyed a wide circle of friends the death of mrs rae proved a trying experi ence for him and no doubt hastened his end the late mr rae was born at quaker hill one mile west of the town of oxbridge a son of a pioneer farmer in that locality as a young man he located on the rae farm north of stouffville but preferred a mercantile career to that of the farmer and so fiftyone years ago he with his deceased wife moved to stouffville where they spent a half century of happy life together his first business venture was the purchase of a general store busi ness belonging to the late wm leaney carried on on the property now occupied as a dwelling by his son asleaney about 40 years ago mr rae moved to the store now- tenanted by mr joan lewis where he remained until nis retirement from active business a couple of years ago mr rae was appointed postmaster of stouffville following the hate jos todd in 1915 and this position he had held with honor and dignity until his demise he was an elder of the former presby terian church until the time of union when he united with the new church still retaining his position as an elder for more than thirty years mr rae and his family ar ranged and assumed the responsi bility for the preparation of the sacramental table in the presby terian church and when his health permitted he also assisted in admin istering the elements for twenty- one years mr rae rendered faith ful service as a school trustee and he aiso served on the municipal council the stouffville felon association organized in february 1s46 just eighty years ago had as its presi dent for half a century the late james rae and he presided at their meeting in january the funeral on monday afternoon took place to stouffville cemetery where the remains found their last resting place beside those of mrs rae so recently interred there rev robt young and rev h s warren conducted the divine service at the house after which friends were permitted to see for the last time the form of their aifelong friend the bier was beautifully banked with flowers and the pall bearers were messrs geo dowswell martin tait w h clark geo urquhart irwin gray and wilmot brown brother elders in the united church attended in a body and lined the walk between the house and the street where the casket was convey ed they were messrs amos leh man a d bruce geo w thomas a j ward dr dc smith and mr murison the surviving children are mrs jas turner and misses nettle and allie and mr frank rae all of stouffville week end mr and mrs leslie rowbotham and mr and mrs av martin visited at mr n burkholders cherrywood on sunday mrs robt closson of the west end is visiting her daughter mrs robt johnston of kettleby for a couple of weeks mr and mrs c g mckenzie and son james ail of the groom officiating messrs h h wideman of port clinton ohio and george of de troit mich were in town last week owing to the death of their father the late peter wideman it is thirty- seven years since h h wideman left the old home in town ship to go out into the big world for himself and in all that time he had only been back to his native town once that being fourteen years ago the hometown the mound for stouffville and pitched even a better game than at stouffville he struck out 15 of the opposing batsmen and allowed just one hit a single by hugo newmar kets star batter bruce was well supported by his brother lew be hind the bat and the stouffville team generally mchale pitched the first 5 innings for newmarket yielding 4 hits and 4 runs curley thompson former stouffville boy
