change in the council if some members now sitting do not wish to stand for another term reeve siivester is not likely to be opposed more attention is likely to be directed to ce affairs cf the school board where four vacancies are to be filled no doubt all the re tiring members could easily be re turned but they refuse to stand for reelection they are messrs aitchi- son and booth and f c rowbot- ham resigned e lloyd will likely stand for reelection the name of ira rusnell is also mentioned to re present hat section on the board which mr lloyd stands for but there appears to be no aspirants to fill the vacancies in town whitchurch council a municipal light is pending in whitchurch where deputyreeve george leary of gormley will aspire to the reeveship and as reeve mor gan baker also desires to retain the position the electors will be left to decide the issue two of the present councillors abiier baker and her man kidd wivj both seek the chair vacated by deputyreeve leary there will be room for new blood in the council but we have heard no names mentioned excepting that of ex- reeve wni crawford whom we un derstand will seek election as a councillor uxbritlge township if the general feeling in and sbout goodwood prevails there will be an allround acclamation in uxljrjdge township for 1926 which would be acceptable to the members there appears to be nothing serious held against the present council and many say an acclamation is in order however there may be others who differ from the general opinion ex pressed around goodwood but unless it grows more serious there will be no election reeve wg cassie who lives at quaker hill just west of uxbridge has held the reeveship for two terms and most of the other councillors have had similar experi ence markham township there is every indication of a municipal election in markham township on jan 4th all the pre sent council will seek reelection to their present positions and exreeve geo padget may oppose reeve gohn exdeputyreeve robt a smith is slated to run for the reeveship or the deputyrecveship but he is sure to be in the fight for some position we have not heard many new names mentioned for councillors excepting mr edgar nigh of the 6th conces sion who if induced to run would no doubt make a good showing at the poll the two issues to be dis cussed on nomination day are the mounting tax rate and the matter of changing the county road from the 6th to the 8th concession it will be up to the old council to satisfy the ratepayers on these contentious questions pickering we are almost safe in predicting an acclamation in pickering reeve speers has only had one year in his present office and old campaigners inform us that he is n6f likely to be opposed all other members are willing to
