school section no 21 north york requesting that a board of arbitration be appointed to dissolve the uss and create a new sec tion in harrington district to repair roads the toronto and york road com after some discussion the bylaw committee was instructed to prepare a bylaw appointing a t wilson pw pearson and ttrench as arbitrators to consider the request of the ratepayers of section 21 j north york for dissolution of the section at present this section comprises a union section with the town of weston the petitioners contend that an unfair assessment is impos ed on them and as they are now in a position to maintain their own school section wish to do so com plaining that the 600 acres of land taken over by the county in section five whitchurch for reforestation would so reduce the school taxes in that area as to cause much hard ship a delegation requested the council to help them in this matter although not compelled to pay taxes on this land the council agreed that taxes should be collected by the sec tion on a fixed assessment the county commissioners report was adopted it was decided to take no action with regard to the unopen ed interboundry line south of clalr- ville between the counties of york and peel full accord existing be tween each of the counties repre sentatives on this matter county tax rate on friday afternoon the council struck their tax rate 64 mills for general purposes or twofifths of a mill more than last year the in crease being occasioned by extra road improvements the total amount levied for the various purposes was 48575657 the amount
