snowdon district will be taken from llandudno to liverpool and man chester and from there to harro gate the fashionable yorkshire spa thence to leeds and york from york the party will proceed to edin gow on friday july 25th on the large canadian pacific liner mont laurier a stop will be made at belfast where sir robert baird head of the belfast telegraph has promised the party a taste of real respect of his memory whitbys splendid war memorial erected in the ontario county town through the efforts of the whitby war veterans club was unveiled by his honor lieutenant governor henry cockshutt on tuesday after noon june 3rd in the presence of an immense concourse of people it teing an event of unusual import- tauce and interest another unique feature was the presentation of a handsome honor roll banner in colors red white and blue bearing the roll of all the whitby men who gave their lives in the war this banner was given to th whitby war veterans club by the whitby war relief society which gave such splendid service to the overseas men the annual field day held in the claremont memorial park on june 3rd under the auspices of the park board was a huge rccess the weather was fine and a large crowd gathered to see the various sports in the afternoon while at night there was a capacity house to hear the concert the sports opened at 1 oclock by the raising and dedication of the large flag 12 ft- by 3 ft which was donated by mrs lyman pilkey while the flagpole was dona ted by mr pilkey the sports opened with girlss softball in which 4 teams took part viz uxbridge pickering glen mayor and clare mont uxbridge and glen mayor were the winning teams in the first drawing while in the playoff ux bridge won by a score of 112 thus capturing the prize inafastgame of football between pickering and claremont s s teams in their first league match claremont won by 40 in the senior football only two took part greenwood and goodwood the game was well contested throughout goodwood won by 31 and took the prize 11 auto rugs in the half mile race there were 4 entries collins mcbride of the local contin uation school came in first and won the prize an auto rug the tug ofwar between uxbridge also proved an interesting feature uxjbridge won with result that they are now smoking prize cigars in the even ing the presbyterian church was filled to capacity to hear a splendid programme by the following talent miss jessie mcgregor pianist and saxaphonist mr leroy kenny reader during the program dr tomlinson called up the last years daley miss middleton will leave in obout two weeks for lakeview house friday evening mr isaac reaman passed away at his home in the east end on sunday about 530 pm with out regaining consciousness about a year ago mr reaman suffered hoover of ringwood and abraham g rea man eight grandchildren are also living mr reaman since coming to stouffville took an active interest in public affairs and served the community as a councillor while for many years he acted as a school trustee and at the time of his demise was a member of the cemetery commission he had also acted as tax collector he was a faithful follower of the mennonite brethren in christ the funeral on tuesday to the wideman cemetery was very largely attended the service being held in the church adjoining the cemetery where the ministers in charge paid fitting
