german folk songs by mrs e radley on her accordion this wis followed by the singing of christmas carols by the visitors and residents in unison with mrs r thomas leading in the singing and mrs radley playing the ac- compamments on her accordion during the refreshment hour that followed old friendships formed i year ago when this same group had visited the manor were renewed and new friendships formed the refreshments sandwiches small cakes and gingerale all donated and served by the visitors very delicious during the refresh ment hour a gift of costume jew ellery was presented to each wom an resident and a box of candy to each meikresidenf small bags of homemade fudge were also nres ented to each resident although few in number these eight ladies were outstanding in hbpitality and i left many pleasant memories be hind them an appealing little play based on the nativity of our lord was enjoyed by the residents on mon day night december 15th when rev d a powell rector of grace anglican church milton brought fourteen youtng girls belonging tv the girls junior auxiliary of his church to the manor three lead ers came with the girls tots ire- land hilson mrs ray waters and mrs j thorples these three adies had trained the girls for the presentation of this inspiring little play mrs waters was at the pi ano for the evening and also play ed christmas selections while the audience was assembling the p a lepicted the journe of mary and oh to bhlehem the child m the manger the comng of the shep herd and the wist men and all the other aspect of the first christmas it was time on wednesday dec 17th twenty four little girls belonging to the 3rd brownie pack of milton accompanied by their lea ders mrs g strain and mrs ida reed visited residents in tbe dining room the girls looked very at tractive in their brownie suits and berets the girls presented small practical gifts to the residents such as notepaper combs and toiletries this friendly visit and the presen tation of these timely gifts by these generous young girls and their gracious leaders are deeply appreciated a close to forty bandsmen and bandswomen belonging to the bur lington concert band played a wonderful band concert at the ma nor on thursday night dec 18th the bandsmen and bandswomen looked very smart in their wine and black uniforms the band was conducted in his usual very talented fashion by mr elgin cor- lett between the opening number o canada and the closing num ber the queen the band play ed a very generous number of sel actions that varied widely in char acter and proved the bands versa tility grand opera was represen ted by the march from wagners vtannhauser while light classical nuisic was represented by the over lure to die fledermans by strauss musifeby such modern
