after noons recently on thursday after noon october 16th mrs keene took five ladies on a motor trip to eden mills the foliage of the trees was at its best that day and the trip was greatly enjoyed on thursday october 2rd mrs keene took four more ladies on a motor trip which was followed by after jtoon tea at the home of mrs k robinson the kindness of mrs keene and mrs robinson is great jy appreciated also greatly appreciated was a supply of attractive tasty apples do nated to the residents by the cubs and bo scouts of milton after their recent apple day it was a pleasure to welcome back to the manor for the sunday afternoon church service on oc tober 19th rev d a powel the rector of grace anglican church milton mr powell was accompan led bv mr ray waters who came to play the piano for the hymns mr powell based his instructive sermon on part of the sixth chapter or st matthew pointing out that jesus made ma n references to the kingdom of god mr powell asked the ques tion what did jesus mean b the kingdom of god he ex plained the difference between- the political kingdom free of- th yoke of rome that his discipc desired and the kingdom of the brotherhood of man that christ mi ant five tables of euchre were in play at the meeting of the euchre club on monday evening october 20th ten ladies and ten men at tended even after sunset on tuesday october list sunshine lingered in the dining room of the manor when the ladies of the sunshine club of first baptist church in georgetown presented a very en jo able concert for the residents the president of the club miss norma thompson presided at tht concert and in her opening re marks expressed the pleasure felt bj bhc members of the club in coming to present this the fifth program that the club has presen led for the residents on this oc asion the residents had the pleas ure of welcoming to the manor for the first time mrs l whan ife of the mw minister of first baptist church georgetown the first number on the program was a fine duet softly and tenderly sung by mrs buttrey and mrs b corbett accompanied by miss norma thompson at the piano the devotional period which came next was conducted in very reverent and inspiring fashion by mrs a robson mrs w mulder played the lost chord as a piano solo with beautiful expres sion two hymns were sung by the visitors and residents in uoi son mr don hancock showed a number of very striking coloured glides depicting the beauty of nature in the four seasons of the j ear mrs don hancock brought the program to a close with a lov cly and appropriate vocal solo a perfect da after a speech of thanks by muriel thompson miss norma thompson promised another visit by her club in the near future refreshments of tea modern lighting for modern living today lighting mudi rev l graham minister of st pauls united church milton came to the manor on sunday af ternoon october 26th to conduct the church service in the chapel mr gxaham himself played the piano ccompanunents for the hymns mr graham delivered a scholarly and informative sermon on the early christian barnabas by assembling various portions of information from the book of acts mr graham presented a word pic ture of barnabas and showed what a worthy person he was among tht fine trails of barnabas were his generosity his open hearted acceptance of the apostle paul his lack of prejudice his humih t and his willingness to be an evangelist and a missionary these are traits of character that could well b cmulau d by the la men and ljwomtn of the chrisnan church today james patterson was
