farm safety week in ontario the program is designed to promote the nec essity for safety in farm opera tions upon the farm people of the province farm operations involve many varied types of jobs this is one of the main reasons for a high ac cident rate in fanning coupled with this is the fact that farming is becoming more and more mech anixed realizing this the cans dian federation of farm equip ment dealers are sponsoring the national farm safety week pro gramme in an effort to determine the actual accident rate on farms the ont depl of agriculture has u ken the first steps in conducting a farm accident survey on a pro vince wide basis it is hoped that the information gained in the survey will assist in the develop ing of a farm safety programme daring this time of year farm tractors and heavy machinery are being used this equipment can be a hazard unless properly used here are some rules to follow in safe tractor operation keep the tractor in safe condi tion at all times drive carefully along steep slo pes and banks always keep power takeoff shield and other safety shields in place be careful when cranking any motor don t permit extra riders at any time don t travel at
